Shipping
BYOD Store has a flat shipping rate of $19.95 (GST included) per order. We primarily use StarTrack for all deliveries and all deliveries require a signature.
Returns & Refund Policy
We want you to be completely satisfied with your purchase. This Returns and Refunds Policy outlines your rights under the Australian Consumer Law and our specific policies regarding returns, refunds, and repairs for computers, laptops, and accessories purchased via BYOD Store.
Faulty or Defective Items (Australian Consumer Law)
Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.
What is a Major Failure? A product has a major failure when:
- It is unsafe.
- It is significantly different from the description or sample.
- It has a defect that would have stopped you from buying it if you had known about it.
- It doesn't do what it is supposed to do and can't be fixed within a reasonable time.
Remedies
- Major Failure: You can choose to keep the item (and receive compensation for the drop in value) or return it for a full refund or replacement.
- Minor Failure: We will repair the item free of charge. If we cannot repair it within a reasonable time, we will offer you a replacement or refund.
Note: Generally, proof of purchase is required. We are not responsible for defects caused by misuse, accidental damage, or unauthorised modifications.
For products with data storage capabilities such as desktops, laptops, internal and external storage, we are not responsible for any data loss. Back-ups of personal data is the responsibility of the end-user. We do not provide a backup or data recovery services when handling warranty claims for devices that store data.
Dead on Arrival (DOA)
If your product arrives damaged or is "Dead on Arrival," please contact us immediately so we can expedite a replacement at our cost.
If a replacement product is not available, we will work with you on a suitable replacement or arrange for a full refund.
Return Shipping on Faulty, Defective or DOA Products
Once your case is registered, We will provide a pre-paid shipping label for the return of faulty, defective, or DOA products.
Before initiating a return for a faulty or DOA product, ensure you have followed manufacturer instructions. In many cases, a product returned as faulty, defective or DOA are often found to be working as expected.
If you return a product as faulty, defective, or DOA and upon inspection we find it to be working correctly, we will process the request as a ‘Change of Mind Returns’. This may result in a reduced refund of the purchase price to cover the return postage costs and restocking fee.
Cancellations
Should you wish to cancel your order before it has been shipped, you can contact us to cancel the order.
A full refund, including shipping will be processed within 10 days.
If the product has already been shipped, we are not able to cancel the order. In these cases, please follow the ‘Change of Mind Returns’ process.
Incorrect Items
We take full responsibility for the replacing of goods where we have provided incorrect goods, including covering of costs of return postage for the incorrect item.
We will provide you with a pre-paid shipping label for the return of an incorrect delivered item.
Change of Mind Returns or Exchanges
We are not required by law to offer you a refund if you simply change your mind, ordered the wrong equipment, or found it cheaper elsewhere. However, we understand that sometimes you may change your mind.
We offer a 14 day return window for Change of Mind returns, provided the following conditions are met:
- The item is returned within 14 days of delivery.
- The item is unopened, factory sealed, and in its original packaging.
- The item is in brand-new, resalable condition.
Please note that except in the case where a Consumer Guarantee is breached, if the plastic seal or shrink wrap of a license agreement is broken, the return cannot be accepted due to copyright and licensing restrictions.
Ownership of the returned product returns to us only upon receipt of the product. Damage or loss during the return shipping is the responsibility of the customer. For high value items like laptops, you may want to consider shipping insurance (at your cost).
Costs for Change of Mind:
- Shipping: You are responsible for return shipping costs. Original shipping fees are non-refundable.
- Restocking Fee: A restocking fee of 5% may apply to Change of Mind returns to cover administration and processing costs. This fee will be deducted from your refund total.
Data Security and Repair Notice
Before returning any device that has been used and is capable of storing data (Laptops, Desktops, Hard Drives, USBs), please ensure you have:
- Backed up your data: We are not responsible for any data loss during the assessment or repair process.
- Removed Personal Information: Please factory reset the device and remove all personal accounts (e.g., Google Account, iCloud, Microsoft Account).
- Removed Passwords: Disable all system passwords, PINs, or biological locks (FaceID/Fingerprint).
Mandatory Repair Notice: Please be aware that any repairs of your goods may result in the loss of any user-generated data. Please ensure that you have made a copy of any data saved on your goods.
How to Initiate
To start a return, please follow these steps:
- Contact our support team at admin@byod.com.au
- Provide your Order Number and a description of the issue (for example: Faulty, Damaged, DOA, Change of Mind, Exchange, Incorrect Item Delivered) as well as your desired outcome (Refund, repair, replacement, exchange).
- Include any photos or other information that will aid us in processing your request in a timely manner.
- Our team will provide you with a Return Authorisation (RA) number along with a pre-paid shipping label (except for Change of Mind returns).
For change of mind returns, your approved Return Authorisation (RA) number should be noted on your purchased postage label.
You can also elect to drop off a return product (after receiving your Return Authorisation (RA) number at our offices at 26 Milgate Drive, Mornington, Vic.
Refund Timeline: Once we receive and inspect your returned product, we will notify you of the approval or rejection of your request. This can take up to 10 days after we receive the product.
If approved, your refund amount (minus any shipping, restocking fees) is normally processed to your original method of payment within 10 days.
NOTE: Due to the volume of goods, we require all returns to be lodged via the above process BEFORE you return the product. This ensures that we can action your request in a timely manner. Returns that have not been authorised with a documented return authorisation number (RA#) may result in delays and potentially refusal in accepting the delivery resulting in additional costs for you.
